Microsoft Project YJTJ™ Series Part 3 Online class

The Milestone Microsoft® Project YJTJ™ Series – Part 3 course is a 1-day, online instructor-led, hands-on class focused on Microsoft Project on the desktop. This course begins with a brief review of key items from Milestone’s Part 2 course, and then proceeds to add more skills in task planning, resource planning, assignment planning, project baselines, and project tracking. During assignment planning, effort driven scheduling is discussed. During project tracking, management of completed and remaining parts (work) and rescheduling of uncompleted work are discussed. The last topic of the day, variance analysis, provides students with a means by which to compare the current schedule to the baseline schedule through the use of default and custom views. Key skills taught include creating and scheduling of material and cost resources, effort driven scheduling, working with project baselines, management of completed and uncompleted work, variance analysis, and customizing Microsoft Project.

This course continues the Parts 1 and 2 objectives of providing students with a detailed understanding of the core foundation of Microsoft Project based on globally accepted Project Management Institute (PMI) principles for project management and proven Microsoft Project best practices. Students will learn best practices for planning, tracking, and variance analysis by assuming the primary role of Project Manager.

The Microsoft Project 2010 and 2013 releases are more Office-like than prior releases, and offer many new features including User Controlled Scheduling and the Timeline view. This Milestone course incorporates many of the new features and is designed for all levels of Microsoft Project experience. Prospective students should have good PC skills and a basic understanding of project management. Previous exposure to the Microsoft Project desktop tool is beneficial. Students should have successfully completed Milestone’s Parts 1 and 2 courses before enrolling in the Part 3 course.

Milestone provides the interactive training environment for each student by providing access to online training through the Milestone lab.

This course is built on and delivered in the Microsoft Project 2010 version. For students using Microsoft Project 2013, there are very few differences. Please note that the instructor will point out differences as needed.
